M10 Draft Report – LSV Drafts Red Beatdown [VIDEO]
September 14, 2009
MTG pro and top five player in the world, Luis Scott-Vargas (aka LSV), drafted a pretty crazy deck in the 8-4 M10 draft queue on Magic Online. If you know anything about him, this deck is quite a departure from his normal drafting strategy.
He tends to draft control decks, but this time he did an experiment by drafting a nearly mono red very aggressive deck with two Jackal Familiars and two Raging Goblins.

M10 Draft Walkthrough #2

This is from a triple M10 draft in the 4-3-2-2 queue on Magic Online. Sadly, I won’t be doing draft videos regularly since video takes too long to produce and I want to recap every draft I do.
Rate Creatures Higher in M10 Draft
September 3, 2009
Magic The Gathering pro and Grand Prix Barcelona winner, Joel Calafell, talks M10 draft strategy:
…the only advice I can really give you, is to rate creatures higher. I mean, most of the time, whoever has the best creatures wins. So it doesn’t make sense to pick random effects over them. Sometimes I see people ending up too short on creatures just because they picked too many Giant Growths, or too many Divinations, Essence Scatter, etc. So don’t think a creature is always worse than a trick, because in this format it’s not really like that. Pick them! You won’t regret it. That way you might end up with a deck that doesn’t have to play cards like Silvercoat Lion or Runeclaw Bear, or even worse: Goblin Piker or Coral Merfolk as fillers. Maybe it’s just me, but those creatures seem so bad to me that when I see one on my opponent’s side of the table, I’m always happy. I guess that’s why I see cards like Bog Wraith, Howling Banshee, Stone Giant or even Dread Warlock getting passed later than I would ever expect. I wish I could always have those!
M10 Draft Walkthrough #1

This is from a triple M10 draft in the 4-3-2-2 queue on Magic Online. I’m trying out videos instead of text because video does a better job of recapping the games. Anyways, enjoy and feel free to leave feedback.
M10 Drafting Tips from Magic Pro LSV
August 5, 2009
LSV did a bunch of team drafts and shares what he learned from the experience.
A lot of people were puzzled at the lack of Safe Passage in his first pass at M10 pick orders. However, he came to the light and now ranks Safe Passage as the 3rd best white card out of the commons and uncommons.
Safe Passage is insane, and I didn’t give it the respect it deserved initially. It destroys Fireball, Earthquake, and Overrun, and is at the worst a solid 1 for 1, although usually better. I would play 2 or 3 in most decks without thinking about it, and would pick it over most commons that don’t fly or Pacify.

M10 Draft Tournament Report for the M10 Launch Party
July 18, 2009
I just played in an M10 draft for the M10 Launch Party.
We had eight players and we did three rounds of swiss with a cut to the top two. Basically, it was single elimination unless people get draws. The two undefeated players after round two can just draw and be the top two players after the three rounds.
How to Beat Bombs in Limited (Sealed or Draft)
July 14, 2009
Steve Sadin has written a great article on beating bombs in limited. I think his article is relevant because M10 seems to be a bomb driven format. I played seven rounds in an M10 Prerelease Sealed Tournament and many of my games were decided by bombs.
