Deck Price Tag: Naya Allies (10th in a 252 Person PTQ)
July 27, 2010 | Posted by Dee
Ro left a comment in the previous Naya Allies post, giving us his list that got 10th place in the second largest PTQ in Texas history (252 players).
I decided to do a price tag on it, because the deck is relatively cheap and I think it is a solid deck. I know at least one top player on Magic League that plays Naya Allies as his main deck. From what I’ve read, it has trouble against Jund but Jund has become less popular. Day of Judgment can be a problem but some UW control players are only playing two copies.
In his comment, Ro said this about the deck:
Way too fast for D-Force and Time Sieve. Hardest matchups were against control with Day of Judgment in it, as it was actually hard to recover from. Vengevine works well but never got him working for his main ability, he was there – then exiled lol.
The worst thing to see when playing this deck is Baneslayer Angel, board in Path. Forget man-lands.
Let’s find out how much it costs.

Are there better side board cards for the control decks or are you just supposed to out pace them?
You are supposed to outpace them. Another possible option against control is Manabarbs.
I’ve been thinking about allies again lately. I know the deck lost (in Standard) the card advantage inherent in Ranger of Eos, Bloodbraid Elf, and Violent Outburst, as well as the versatility of Naya Charm…but are there cards in the Standard format now that we could leverage like Lead the Stampede, etc? The lifegain should be good against the Kuldotha Red decks, and when playing it I did have game against U/W Tapout…
Forgot about also losing ancient ziggurat.
Not sure how viable Allies is these days, but here’s a list that got 21 points (probably 7-3 in rounds) in last weekend’s Pro Tour:
4 Arid Mesa
4 Copperline Gorge
1 Mountain
5 Plains
3 Raging Ravine
4 Razorverge Thicket
2 Stirring Wildwood
1 Sunpetal Grove
24 lands
4 Akoum Battlesinger
4 Hada Freeblade
3 Harabaz Druid
4 Kabira Evangel
4 Kazandu Blademaster
4 Oran-Rief Survivalist
3 Talus Paladin
26 creatures
1 Arc Trail
1 Join the Ranks
4 Journey to Nowhere
4 Lightning Bolt
10 other spells
Sideboard
1 Arc Trail
2 Celestial Purge
1 Linvala, Keeper of Silence
4 Luminarch Ascension
3 Mark of Mutiny
2 Revoke Existence
1 Talus Paladin
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
15 sideboard cards

It looks solid enough but it may not be well positioned with the new top deck, CawBlade, having 4 Day of Judgment main. But I do like the 4 Ascension tech in the sb.
