Deck Price Tag: Grixis Control (Standard)
May 16, 2010 | Posted by Dee
As a new feature, I’ll be figuring out the price tags of winning decks. I’m curious to see which decks are good bargains and which ones are super expensive. Hopefully, this feature will help you as you choose a deck to play and buy and trade MTG cards.
The first deck is Grixis Control. I used today’s eBay prices from Black Lotus Project. Updated on 6/9/10: We have a new program that calculates the deck price tags using the latest eBay price guides from MagicTraders.com. This means the deck price tags change everyday to reflect the latest card prices. Learn more about our program.

This is probably my favorite new feature. Didn’t know about black lotus so thanks for that. I currently use a combo of ebay searching and findmagiccards.com to look up decks by card individually as well as putting the entire list into both the coolstuffinc & SCG deckbuilder links. Findmagiccards is helpful to get a view at what individual shops are buying and selling cards for.
Any plans to have a page that lists all the decks and their price tags and maybe a rating/finishes?
Hey lorddax,
Glad you like the feature. Findmagiccards looks like a great site. http://store.tcgplayer.com/magic/ is a similar site that compares prices from individual stores.
Once I get a couple price tag posts, I’ll put them on one page so that it’s easy to compare the costs of the different decks. Not sure on the ratings though. I don’t playtest enough to be confident with my ratings. Maybe the Magic Game Plan community can help with that. With ratings, I think the more data, the better, so it would be great to have the playtest results from other people.

Thanks! I am a pinoy living in the States.
You can click the card names to buy the cards on eBay. I got the prices from http://blacklotusproject.com/
nice one dee!
Im glad to know that your a Filipino. This is the first time that i’ve encounter a Filipino MTG player from the other country! Do you speak tagalog? When is the last time that you’ve visited our country? I hope that we became friends! Where are you in states? My buddy is in Kansas. Can i get your email address? Where is your town here in the Philippines? Im from NCR.
By the way, regarding on your blog, its a very powerful deck, PROMISE! I like it very much! But i have some problems, especially the prices that you put in, like for JACE TMS, in ebay, its a $80 today. And also the Fetch lands, they are low in you price compare to ebay.
You know what, im eager to build this deck. Can you help me Find this card in ebay for that price? same in your blog.
This is my email address, mars_speed@yahoo.com. If you want, we can make exchange some info. anything under the sun!
I hope for your favorable response bro,
MABUHAY KA PINOY!

I came to the States when I was 6 years old. I forgot most of Tagalog
I went back to the Philippines back in 8th grade but that was a long time ago (I’m 30 years old). I live in Texas.
I don’t like to put my email online because of spammers but you can contact me at http://magicgameplan.com/contact/ The contact form will send your message to my email address and I can reply to you from that address.
What is NCR? I grew up in Pasay City in Manila.
I get the prices from http://blacklotusproject.com/ but the prices are always going to be moving around. For example, since I published the post, Jace TMS has jumped up in price to $59. You will probably have to do some shopping around in the eBay auctions to get lower prices. Unfortunately, I can’t help you with that as I’m pretty busy and it takes time to do research and get good eBay deals.
I’m not quite sure how Black Lotus Project determines their price but I think it’s using some kind of median average. Because it’s an average price, you may find a lot of variety in the prices of Jace TMS because that card has a lot of volume. You’ll have to do some shopping around and comparing prices to get the best deal.
dee,
NCR – National Capital Region where your hometown is located same as mine , we are about an hour a distance, im from marikina where typhoon ONDOY is in its strong that kills about close to a thousand…have you watch it in the news last year? last september of 2009!
by the way, regarding to MTG, yeah your right i think its the best way to have some cards, go around on ebay.
by the again bud, there’s my email address, you an mail me on that so no one can spam on your mail, im not a spammer.
Hope that we can talk sometime…
Salamat Kaibigan,
MARS
What would be a good replacement for Jace V2? J V1? Other card drawers? I have most of the deck already because cards like SGC or the Dragonskulls appear in my Jund, but I don’t want to spend more than 200 $ just for 4 Cards.
It’s really hard to replace Jace TMS, but I think Jace Beleren is a good budget alternative. The first Jace is good because it can stop Jace TMS. Also, it’s cheaper so you can play it on turn three before your opponent casts Jace TMS.
