No MTG States for Me

StatesSadly, I won’t be going to States this year. I think I’ll be too unprepared.

I haven’t had time to test the Standard format and I don’t have the cards for a good deck. I could try to get caught up with the format by doing a lot of testing in the next two weeks. However, my time is limited because of work. I think my time would be better spent testing Shards of Alara sealed and draft. There is a PTQ in eight days and I can do a lot of testing on Magic Online now that Shards of Alara has been released online.

While I won’t be slinging real Magic The Gathering cards at States, I will be trying to qualify for the Shards of Alara Release Event Championship on Magic Online. This online tournament is on the same day as States.

Since many people will be at States, I bet the Release Event Championship will be a small tournament and it should be easier to qualify for. Plus, the prizes are not bad. Top 4 gets at least 36 boosters. First place also gets a complete foil set of Shards of Alara while second place gets a complete non-foil set.
