Unique Type 2 Faeries Deck With 4 Plumeveils Main

Mistbind CliqueI thought Faeries was pretty much dead for the Magic The Gathering Standard format. This is sad for me because currently it is the only competitive decklist I own. However, the following Faeries decklist got top 8 at Regionals and it looks solid against tokens including the Black/White variety that has Zealous Persecution main.

Plumeveil Faeries MTG Analysis

I’ve been looking for a strong decklist with Plumeveil main and this build might be just what I’m looking for. Plumeveil seems strong right now. It’s good against popular tournament cards like Bloodbraid Elf, Kitchen Finks, Spectral Procession, Figure of Destiny, Bitterblossom, and Hellspark Elemental.

As you can probably tell, the list is much more controlling than your average Faeries build with 0 Scion of Oona, 0 Vendilion Clique, 4 Plumeveil, 4 Jace Beleren, 2 Loxodon Warhammer, and even 1 Wydwen, the Biting Gale. Two Warhammers seems like a lot but they are great against tokens. Warhammer is slow to use but this decklist is set up to reach the late game. You’ll have time and mana to use the powerful equipment.

I was surprised at the full set of Peppersmoke but after some thought, I realized that Peppersmoke has a place in the metagame. On turn one, it stops the strong one-drop creatures like Noble Hierarch, Birds of Paradise, and Figure of Destiny that can hurt Faeries. You may not think of Birds of Paradise as being dangerous to Faeries but a turn two Doran, the Siege Tower is usually game. Also, Peppersmoke is great against tokens.

Cutting Faerie Conclave is probably the right call since Faeries needs to hit four mana by turn four.

Regarding the sideboard, Infest gets the nod over Stillmoon Cavalier versus BW Tokens because Zealous Persecution kills the pro black and white creature. Plus, Infest is very synergistic with Plumeveil.
