How to Get Around the Drawback of Vampire Nocturnus

Vampire NocturnusNote: This post has Zendikar spoilers.

There are good number of quality vampire cards spoiled so far that I think a monoblack vampire deck could make an impact in Zendikar Standard.

However, the vampire lord, Vampire Nocturnus, has a drawback that can cost you the game. If the top card of your library is not a black card, then Vampire Nocturnus is only a 3/3 for four mana. And your creatures would lose the +2/+1 bonus, which could leave you open to a board sweeper like Pyroclasm and Volcanic Fallout.

Mike Flores has a great idea of limiting the drawback. He writes that you can play the new Zendikar fetch lands (check the very end of this link). These fetch lands allow you to shuffle the deck and get a Swamp. Not only do they thin out your deck of lands but you get to see a new card on top of your library.

Also, Mike says to play the black borderposts from Alara Reborn. These basically function as lands that turn on Vampire Nocturnus.
